Augusta: We seek a skilled Pain Medicine specialist to join the important Physiatry and Pain Management practice in Maine’s newest hospital – a state-of-the-art 190-bed regional medical center in the state capital city, just 50 minutes from Portland. This physician-led nonprofit hospital is the area’s largest private employer and Maine’s third largest healthcare system, serving 65,000 area residents. This is an Equal Opportunity / Affirmative Action employer. You will have a convenient weekday schedule with built in admin time every day. Join a collaborative team with 3 physicians, 4 nurse practitioners and a psychologist, plus RNs and MAs – all enthusiastic about evidence-based occupational medicine in this fast-paced outpatient setting. You will occasionally cover the inpatient rehabilitation unit too. Call is shared across a large group, and only comes around once/month. In this role, you will treat the “whole person,” not just the area of pain/injury. You will have plenty of time to hear from your patients, and to answer their questions. Careful management of controlled substances is a priority. You will offer treatments and make referrals for physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, rehabilitation, exercise programs, orthotics and prosthetics, counseling, etc., while helping your patients find relief from pain. Candidates with skills in EMG testing / muscle dysfunction will receive priority consideration. This hospital-employed position offers an extremely competitive salary with benefits including paid relocation assistance, insurance (medical, dental, vision, life, and disability), paid time off plus paid holidays, more paid leave plus a budget for your CME, a choice of pension plans, and more. Generous medical education loan repayment is available. Augusta is Maine's historic capital city, a growing college town, and a family-friendly community situated in the scenic Kennebec Valley.
